Lamborghini 350GT, glowing and running since 51 years
Just a few days ago we learned that 2013 was the most succesful year in the V12 history of Lamborghini with 1.001 units sold. Stay tuned for a webspecial coming soon. During the 26th Kitzbuehler Alpenrallye we got the chance to join Automobili Lamborghini. This year is Lamborghini´s 5oth anniversary, so which model could be the perfect one for the tour across the alps? Right, it is the infamous 350GT from 1964, the first production car ever. Only about 135 pieces have been built. Quality control of the early 3.5 liter engines was very high. Each one underwent tests for 24 hours on a Schenk Walge dynamometer, being run for the first 12 hours under electric power, and then with petrol at increasing speeds. A detailed analysis was made of its behavior before installation in the car for at least 500 kilometres of mixed-test running by Bob Wallace. Still after 50 years of running it is glowing and driving like it just have left the factory. The yellow, stunning Gallardo LP 550-2 was the bodyguard during the trip, because everybody wanted to get as close as possible. You have to see the 350GT driving and moving, so enjoy our clip.
